Introducing the new ACPA Seminar Series, a monthly webinar series including various topics of interest related to advancing the Chemical Profession in Alberta. For the fourth seminar in this series, we are happy to introduce David Antoniuk, CEO of Applied Quantum Materials Inc. to speak on 'Quantum Materials for Healthcare – Tackling COVID-19 Detection' on October 19, 2021.  Each seminar will be eligible for 1 PDC credit.

Quantum Materials for Healthcare – Tackling COVID-19 Detection


The SARS-CoV2 pandemic pushed the health establishment to the brink by causing a global supply chain shortage of critical medical reagents. In this presentation, learn how Applied Quantum Materials Inc. (AQM) responded to help Alberta Health Services address the need for increased COVID testing capacity through the development of tailored nanomaterials.



Speaker Bio


David Antoniuk, CEO of Applied Quantum Materials Inc.


David is the CEO of Applied Quantum Materials Inc., which he co-founded in 2015. AQM is a world leader in the development of cutting edge nanomaterials for the semiconductor, energy and medical industries. In the past, he was active in improving access to capital in Alberta and was the co-founder of the Banff Venture Forum and initiator of the Alberta Deal Generator angel network. As Director of Nanotechnology for the Government of Alberta, he formulated the initial strategy which saw the expansion of the University of Alberta NanoFAB, the formation of the National Institute for Nanotechnology and the Alberta Centre for Advanced MNT Products (ACAMP). Dr. Antoniuk holds a Ph.D. in Engineering Physics from the University of Alberta.
