Introducing the new ACPA Seminar Series, a monthly webinar series including various topics of interest related to advancing the Chemical Profession in Alberta. For the fifth seminar in this series, we are happy to introduce Christina Seidel, P.Eng., Ph.D., Owner of sonnevera international corp. to speak on 'Perspectives of, and opportunities within, a Circular Economy' on November 16, 2021.  Each seminar will be eligible for 1 PDC credit.

Perspectives of, and opportunities within, a Circular Economy


In a circular economy, materials are used in a manner that keeps them at their highest utility and value at all times, there is a shift towards the use of renewable energy, toxic chemicals are eliminated, and waste is prevented through superior design. Christina will discuss circular examples, and some of the opportunities presented by shifting towards a Circular Economy.



Speaker Bio


Christina Seidel, P.Eng., Ph.D., Owner, sonnevera international corp.


Christina holds a Ph.D. in Engineering Management. She operates sonnevera international corp., a waste reduction consulting firm, and is the current Executive Director of the Recycling Council of Alberta. She served as co-chair of the National Zero Waste Council’s Circular Economy Working Group, and was also a member of Minister of Environment and Climate Change Canada, Catherine McKenna’s Plastics Advisory Group.

Christina loves rural life, choosing to live on a farm near Bluffton, Alberta, where she and her family train Warmblood horses and enjoy many other outdoor activities.
