Let's Talk Science UAlberta is proud to announce the return of our 9th annual "School of Witchcraft and Wizardry: Science is Magic!". Different than the previous years, it will be held ONLINE on Saturday and Sunday, November 7th, and 8th. This FREE event is open to the public and runs both days from 1 PM until 4 PM.
Join us on Saturday or Sunday, November 7th, or 8th to witness magic unfold in the form of science! Both days will contain the same content, so choose whichever day is the most convenient for you! Let's Talk Science has organized a series of magic-themed hands-on science activities, demonstrations, and shows for children ages 5 - 15 to participate in. Our classes this year include Defense Against the Dark Arts, Charms, Divinations, and Transfigurations – and the return of our popular potion show! Each classroom will be led by our own witches and wizards who will guide you through some hands-on science demos using easily accessible materials you can find at home or at the grocery store! You don't want to miss out on our 9th year of School of Witchcraft and Wizardry: Science is Magic 2020!
Time and Location
When: Saturday, November 7th, 2020 from 13:00 PM to 16:00 PM and Sunday, November 8th, 2020 from 13:00 PM to 16:00 PM.
Tickets are sold in two sessions: Saturday Session runs from 13:00 PM to 16:00 PM and the Sunday Session runs from 13:00 PM to 16:00 PM. Both days will run the same schedule and activities, so please only choose ONE day to register!
Where: Online (Zoom). A registration package that includes the meeting link and any materials required for the hands-on activities will be sent to your email before the event day.
Important Information & FAQ'S
- Please only register only ONE of the days and only ONE ticket per family or computer.
- Please register in advance since we only have limited capacity for audiences online. Registering early also ensures that you have enough time to gather any materials recommended for the hands-on activities.
How much does the event cost?
It is FREE to attend this event! This event is free because it is run by students who volunteer their time and from generous donations from our sponsors and fundraising, which allows us to keep coming back every year to teach all the wizards and witches of Edmonton. However, donations are always greatly appreciated and will be accepted online by donating via our donation site here: Let's Talk Science UAlberta Donation Site.
Do I have to attend with my children?
Yes. All children under the age of 15 must be supervised by an adult at all times. *This is especially important since all attendee cameras will be disabled, so our volunteers will not be able to monitor and supervise any children.*
Will pictures, videos, or sound be taken at the event?
No. To ensure your privacy, there will be no pictures, videos, nor sound taken or recorded throughout the event. Only your first name will be viewable by attendees and hosts, and all attendee audio and video feeds will be disabled.
Do I have to dress up in a costume?
All costumes are welcome and optional! Post any pictures you take during the event to social media and tag us using #LTSSOWW or post your photos to our Facebook page: School of Witchcraft & Wizardry: Science is Magic.
