Get Involved

Chemistry is the foundation of Alberta’s future, and you don’t have to be a scientist to be part of the conversation. Whether you are a registered professional looking to lead, a student starting your journey, or a member of the public seeking the facts, there are many ways to engage with the ACPA.

Join the Conversation

From the lab to the community, your involvement helps us promote scientific integrity and professional excellence across the province.

For the Registered Professional

Shape the future of the association by joining a committee, mentoring a new graduate, or serving on the Board of Directors to guide our strategic vision.

For the Aspiring Chemist

Connect with your professors and colleagues to learn about the P.Chem. pathway, and take advantage of our scholarships and networking events to build your career.

For the Public

Access trusted resources to separate scientific fact from fiction, ensuring you have the guiding information needed to understand the chemistry in your daily life.

Ways to Make an Impact

We believe that “What in the world isn’t chemistry?” From horticulture to energy, our impact is everywhere.

Volunteer with Purpose

By joining a committee or the Board, you play a direct role in maintaining the high standards of our profession and protecting the interests of all Albertans.

The Outreach Toolkit

We empower our members to be ambassadors for science. Access our specialized “Outreach Toolkit” for the resources you need to represent the profession at universities, industry conferences, or community events.

Advocacy & Public Education

In an era of misinformation, the ACPA stands as a trusted source of truth. We provide resources to help the public “learn the facts” and find peace of mind through science-based evidence on controversial or complex chemical topics.

Professional Recognition

Our members’ expertise is recognized at the highest levels of industry regulation. This includes formal recognition by the Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) under Directive 001, highlighting the critical role of the P.Chem. in site-specific liability assessments.

Although the positions are volunteer, members should understand that there is a time commitment expectation. The time commitment for Committee Members varies depending on the role. Please contact us if you’re interested in volunteering or wish to learn more about the exciting opportunities to serve the Association and its members!

Not a Member Yet? No Problem.

You don’t need a designation to start your journey with the ACPA.
