Professional Chemist (P.Chem.)

P.Chem.
membership requires a minimum of a four year Bachelor of Science degree in
Chemistry from an accredited University. The equivalent of 16 single semesters
of chemistry with at least two full year courses at a senior (3rd or 4th year
university) level is the minimum educational requirement. At least
two semesters must be in each of the four major chemistry disciplines (organic,
inorganic, physical, and analytical). In addition, at least two years of
full- time chemistry-related work experience are required, with at least one
year of chemistry related work experience in Canada, for full Professional
Chemist membership and the right to use the title of P. Chem. There is a
one-time non-refundable application fee of $25 and annual dues of $150. Only
this category of membership has full rights and privileges.
Chemist-in-Training (C.I.T.)

C.I.T. membership has the same
educational requirement and fees as the P.Chem. category, but is intended as an
entry-level membership category for those who do not yet have sufficient work
experience. Annual dues are $75.
Retired Member

Former members of the ACPA, and other regulated Professional Chemists' Association who have retired from professional practice in chemistry are eligible for
this category. Annual dues are $50.
Associate Member

This category is open to any
individual interested in the practice of chemistry. Annual dues are $50.
Student Member

Student membership is open to those
enrolled in a university degree program in the chemical sciences. Annual dues
are waived, however, an annual submission of an original current grade
transcript is required.
